Cashflow Over Clout — (3) Numbers That Keep Your Business Alive

Let’s talk grown-folk business for a second.

In our communities, we’re surrounded by “motion” — posts, flyers, new logos, new announcements, new “soft launches.” And listen… I love momentum. But I’m here to remind you:

Revenue is vanity. Cashflow is survival. Profit is legacy.

If you’re building a real business (or transitioning from hobbyist to business owner), you don’t just need more customers — you need more control. And control starts with knowing your numbers.

1) Your Monthly Burn (What it costs to stay open)

This is the amount your business spends every month before you pay yourself.
Rent, subscriptions, supplies, gas, payroll, insurance, fees — all of it.

If you don’t know this number, you’ll keep working hard and still feel broke.

Power move: write it down and cut 10–20% of anything that doesn’t directly increase revenue or stability.

2) Your Break-Even Point (The minimum you must bring in)

Break-even is the amount you have to earn just to not lose money.

This is where a lot of entrepreneurs get trapped — they’re “busy,” but they’re not profitable. They’re moving, but they’re not building.

Power move: set your weekly target based on break-even + taxes + profit. If you can’t hit it consistently, adjust your pricing, offers, or expenses.

3) Your Cash Runway (How long you can survive with what you have)

Runway is the number of months you can operate if income slows down.

And with everything going on in the economy, runway is not optional. Especially for mompreneurs, dadpreneurs, and part-time founders funding the dream from the household.

Power move: build a 30-day buffer, then 60, then 90. Even if it’s small at first, it changes how you think and how you move.

This is how we build community wealth

A stable business creates stable households.
Stable households create stable neighborhoods.
And when dollars circulate locally through stable businesses, the whole ecosystem rises.

So this week, don’t just work in your business — work on it.

Because the goal isn’t to look like you’re winning.
The goal is to be winning… quietly, consistently, and legally.

Peace, purpose, people.
